Pregolskaya TPP commissioned in Kaliningrad
Kaliningrad Generation (a joint venture of Rosneftegaz and Inter RAO) completed the construction and commissioned the Pregolskaya TPP with the total capacity of 455.2 MW.
The power plant was built as part of the project on ensuring energy security of the Kaliningrad Region implemented in accordance with the order of the President of the Russian Federation and the Directives of the Government of the Russian Federation. The project provides for construction of four power plants in the region until 2021, and their total installed capacity will amount to 1 GW. The two plants, Mayakovskaya TPP in Gusev and Talakhovskaya TPP in Sovetsk, were put into operation in March 2018. All basic facilities of the power plants have been manufactured in Russia. Rosneftegaz is an investor in the project, and investments amount to 100 billion rubles. Companies of Inter RAO Group are operators of the project, and they will also operate the TPPs that were built.
Pregolskaya TPP is the power plant of the new generation with the largest capacity. The power plant comprises four steam-gas generation units with the capacity of 113.8 MW each. The basic facilities include the 6F.03 gas turbine manufactured by Russian Gas Turbines (Rybinsk, the Yaroslavl Region), a generator (made by ELSIB, Novosibirsk), a steam turbine (manufactured by Power Machines, Kaluga), and a waste-heat boiler (JSC Machine-Building Factory of Podolsk (JSC ZiO), Podolsk, the Moscow Region). The facility has dry cooling towers.
"Commissioning of Pregolskaya TPP provided the region with large capacity and real opportunities for economic development," said BORIS KOVALCHUK, Chairman of the Management Board, Inter RAO. "New gas-fired plants have considerably increased reliability and maneuverability of the power system in the Kaliningrad Region. The region will gain full energy independence after completing the construction of the backup Primorskaya TPP."06.03.2019
